Important Announcement - Tuesday, June 07, 2011

You are all no doubt aware that Apex Networks will be replacing the Transcomm system when the company shuts down at the end of September 2011. However the Clubs have negotiated an extension using IAS until February 2012 as a fall back situation. So far 9 clubs have opted to use Apex and we have received confirmation from Axa, Brittania and Green Flag. We will continue to offer Turbo Exchange because we have 4 clubs that wish to use it plus we supply the service to a major public transport group in the UK.

As yet we have very little information on the new system from Apex so we are unable to provide you with the detail on how it will work or interact with GM, trackers and in cab systems.

Over the last 18 months our programmers at Fareham have been writing a new on line GM along with a new mapping system. This software has the scope to be pan European and is currently on test in a major European country. It also links to Android handhelds which we have developed and is currently available in the UK. We plan to launch On Line GM in the UK in early 2012 which will have many more features than the current system and we feel will be of benefit to both Clubs and Contractors due to the increased amount of information it will provide. All GM customers on support will receive it free of charge should they decide to opt for it.

You will have heard that the decision has been taken to disband our field based sales force on the MTS side of our business. This has not been taken without a lot of consideration and does not reflect in anyway on the three people involved who have worked very hard over the past three years. However in the current climate with fuel and transport costs rising plus a slow down in the economy and we still see reductions year on year in the number of companies operating in recovery sector it has become unviable to operate and we have seen also more and more business now come in direct to the office. We have been diversifying over the past 12 months with major contracts being obtained with Bus operators and we plan to launch an all new tracking device aimed at the plant hire, construction, haulage and agricultural sectors but development has been slower than planned and probably will not be available until the last quarter of 2011. We will continue to operate a full on site service for you for sales and service and all other sectors of the MTT Group continue unaffected. Added to our new product range is the Android PDA software readily available which also works on tablets, we also have launched our online mapping system to view and track your vehicles 24/7.

For 2011 the MTT group has had a promising start for 2011 with significant growth in the MOT CLUB which doubled in size in 2010 and it will be offering MOT test stations new software to help manage the operation of their test stations with effect from 1st July also SCT is about to launch a new stock control software system along with AutoinTouch Live linking to Master Cat for a fully integrated management system to include parts ordering and we are seeing significant increases in new customers adopting AiT has their first choice of management system. Autologic still continues to provide 20,000 test stations with the VSI data through the Siemens system and this will continue till at least 2015. With MTS and the tracking side 2011 will see our launch into Europe using TE as the medium of communication along with all new software linking to a fully integrated system including trackers and Android enabled devices .

Transcomm - Important Information - Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Many of you may now be aware of what is happening with the Transcomm network.
We were informed 2 wks ago that Transcomm is now closing down and they have given us a time scale of a maximum of 18 months for London, with other parts of the UK being switched off in the coming weeks & months. There are 280 masts in the field and they have already shut down 50 without giving notice to anyone.

As we speak we are currently waiting for information as to when the transmitters will be switched off. We are hoping to get some idea from transcomm shortly and will inform you of this as soon as possible.

WE AIM TO SEND REGULAR UPDATES ABOUT TRANSCOMM VIA E-MAIL

At this stage we have been informed that they will be starting in the Scotland region and work their way down south. We also believe that they will close the more rural masts sooner rather than later due to the low level of usage. We understand the cities will be left till last and then London.

Some of the garages are starting to experience problems with Transcomm not transmitting data but with no notice or WARNING. This we have no control over and we are doing our best to make sure that everything is in place our end to ensure it is not a Turbo Dispatch issue.

WHAT YOU NEED MOVING FORWARD

Over the last 6 months or so a large number of our customers have started to move over to the internet, using our Turbo Dispatch 8 instead of a radio modem and TD6. Transcomm have provided them with an IAS number to transmit and receive their data via the internet. If the clubs you work for don’t yet support Turbo Exchange, then in the interim period, you can request an IAS account & software for £200 (subject to limited availability).Our Turbo Exchange has been designed to replace the Transcomm System and when Transcomm shut down Turbo Exchange will be the primary way of transmitting data. This is what you will require;

You will need a reliable internet connection and preferable a backup. More details on this page;

www.turboexchange.net/Get_Started/Connection_Advice

If you opt for and IAS account, then you will also need a fixed IP address.

Turbo Dispatch is a free downloadable product, but does require you to pay a charge of £200 + VAT to activate the licence legally with an IAS Transcomm connection. However an IAS is not required in the case of the Turbo Exchange program, when it finally becomes the standard job dispatching method.

Customers who currently have their Internet Turbo Dispatch via an IAS with Transcomm would have already been charged the £200 when they had their IAS activated and so will not incur this charge again when they finally migrate to Turbo Exchange.

Night Controller

Night controller units will not require modems moving forward, they can use the internet using Turbo Exchange with no requirement for a fixed ip address.

If a modem is currently in use, you can give notice to terminate the modem and use the internet with Turbo Exchange, at a cost of £18.50 instead of your current monthly fee with Transcomm. Please contact the office for further details.

PRODUCTS MOVING FORWARD

A challenge for a lot of you is you do not have internet set up in your call rooms, but moving forward this is a tool that is paramount.

We will be here to help out as much as possible with any questions and to make the transaction as smooth as possible.

IN VEHICLE PRODUCTS

Many of you currently have VDO, ME’s or other transcomm equipment in your vehicles that use the Transcomm network. Once the move happens, these products will no longer be functional. Some of you have already started the move over to the new products.
We have a couple of options available to you. Please let us know what if you require further information and we will provide details and costs. As this is being forces on you we are trying our upmost to get the products to you at the best price we can.

TRANSCOMM have informed us that they still require the normal 3 months notice on any product that is being terminated. We are doing our upmost to get this withdrawn.
